Retro revamp by Rezvani: embracing the classic charm of the Porsche 911

The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Rezvani Motors, an American company known for its rugged SUVs like the Tank and Knight, unveils a new division: Rezvani Retro. This new venture is dedicated to creating custom Porsche 911 builds, and their first creation is the RR1.

Inspired by the late-'70s Porsche 935, the RR1 boasts "timeless looks" and "today's engineering." The RR1 comes in two versions: the RR1 600 and the RR1 750.

The entry-level RR1 600, priced around NZ$555,000 including the base 911 Carrera, features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine from the 911 Carrera, tuned to deliver a powerful 441kW. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in about 3.0 seconds. For those seeking a more exhilarating drive, the RR1 600 offers a choice between a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK transmission.

On the other hand, the RR1 750 starts with the 911 Turbo S and its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six, tuned to an impressive 552kW. The RR1 750 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a jaw-dropping 2.0 seconds, but it is only available with PDK transmission.

Both RR1 models feature mostly carbon fibre bodywork and a wide, aggressive shell. The RR1 retains the original 911 doors, adding to its classic appeal.

Extras such as Brembo GT-S brakes, centre-lock wheel conversions, Ohlins TTX-Pro coil-overs, and a custom livery are available at additional costs, allowing customers to tailor their RR1 to their preferences. However, unlike Rezvani's SUV range, the RR1 does not come with bulletproofing or spy-spec gadgetry.

Only 50 RR1 models will be built, each based on the current 992-generation Porsche 911. The base price for a Rezvani Retro RR1 build is US$195,000 before options, not including the donor car. With the base 911 Carrera's list price of US$132,300 plus fees, the absolute entry price for an RR1 is roughly US$329,650 (around NZ$555k at current exchange rates).

The Rezvani Retro project, led by Rezvani Motors founder Ferris Rezvani, marks an exciting new chapter for the company. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, it's clear that Rezvani Motors is committed to pushing the boundaries of performance and customisation.
