Resolution unveiled for temporary school storage structures
School on Reuterstraße is set to welcome two new containers by the end of November, as the renovation of the middle section has been postponed until the same period. These new containers offer more space and technical equipment that meets current requirements, providing a temporary solution to the space crunch.
The delay in the renovation was announced after mold was discovered in three containers within the school's ceiling structure during exams. Rather than repairing the affected containers, it was deemed more cost-effective to replace them with new ones.
Alexandra Meuthen, head of the department, emphasized that all parties are working diligently to minimize restrictions for students and teachers. Five rooms in the middle section will be used temporarily, with the neighboring music school offering two rooms for temporary use.
Principal Sven Hees acknowledged that the high room occupancy may prevent some lessons from taking place in specialized rooms. However, he expressed satisfaction with the active support of the administration in compensating for the effects of the new strain.
The former room of the school social pedagogue has been converted into a course room, leaving one less room available for the interim period. A third new container, the so-called C-container, was equipped for use during the holidays, providing three classrooms for teaching. Once technical details are clarified, the C-container rooms will also be available for digital lessons.
The phase of consolidation is expected to be over by mid to late November, after which the renovation of the middle section will take place. No new facts about the use of temporary rooms or the postponement of renovation have been reported.
It's worth noting that no direct contact with mold was reported, and priority is given to the installation of the two new containers. The school authority responsible for the construction of the new containers has not been explicitly mentioned in the available search results.
Despite the challenges, school officials remain optimistic and are committed to ensuring the least disruption to the education of their students.
