In a developing situation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are searching for a potentially armed and dangerous individual in the Ohsweken Six Nations First Nation area. The suspect, a 26-year-old Iraqi man from Menden, is the main suspect in a case involving gang theft from April 21 of the previous year. He is also connected to human smuggling investigations that led to arrests and searches in multiple towns on August 12, 2025, and was taken into custody in Fröndenberg with an arrest warrant issued against him.

The incident occurred earlier this morning near Onondaga Road and Sixth Line. At present, there are no confirmed injuries reported. Residents are advised to stay indoors, lock their doors and windows, and avoid the area altogether. An increased police presence is expected in the area due to the ongoing investigation.

If outside, residents are advised to seek shelter immediately. Anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts is asked to contact authorities. Call 9-1-1 immediately if the suspect is encountered. Canine and aviation resources have been deployed in the ongoing investigation.

A shelter-in-place order is currently in effect in the Ohsweken Six Nations First Nation. Residents are urged to follow this order and not engage with anyone suspicious. Editorial Update: The shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

The OPP have not yet released information about the circumstances leading to the incident or the suspect's identity. The search for the suspect is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
