Residents of Moers can now access high-speed fibre connections through functional providers Westconnect and 1&1, reaching numerous homes.
In a significant move towards enhancing digital infrastructure, 1&1 AG, a listed telecommunications provider and part of the United Internet group, has announced the launch of its 5G network and fiber optic services in the German town of Moers.
Starting September 1st, over 3,800 households in Moers will have access to fiber optic connections provided by Westconnect and 1&1. These connections, based on the regional fiber optic network of Westconnect, are connected to 1&1's nationwide transport network, ensuring fast and reliable internet coverage in the region.
Daniel Liemann, 1&1's expert for regional fiber optic expansion, expressed delight at enabling Moers citizens to access a fast and stable fiber optic connection. Daniel Böttcher, Regional Manager at Westconnect, shared similar sentiments, expressing his delight that 1&1 is offering its products on Westconnect's powerful fiber optic networks.
The 1&1 5G network is independent, technology-open, and ready for real-time applications of the future. It operates Europe's first 5G mobile network based on the Open-RAN technology, which promotes more competition and innovation in the German mobile landscape as the fourth network.
1&1 AG focuses on the German market and actively strengthens the country's digital sovereignty. Tariffs ranging from 50 Mbit/s to 1,000 Mbit/s are available to customers. During a promotional period, the fiber optic tariffs can be booked directly via the 1&1 website with discounted prices starting at 9.99 euros per month for the first ten months. After the promotional period, monthly costs will range from 39.99 euros (1&1 Fiber 50) to 69.99 euros (1&1 Fiber 1,000), depending on the chosen tariff.
The fast and reliable fiber optic technology makes Moers ready for the digital future. In addition to a mobile portfolio, 1&1 offers broadband connections based on 1&1 Versatel's nationwide fiber optic transport network and networks of regional city carriers and Deutsche Telekom.
