Residents of Gaza City urged by Israeli Prime Minister to evacuate immediately.
In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, tensions have risen significantly in recent days.
On Monday, at least 39 people, including 25 in Gaza City, were reportedly killed by Israeli forces, according to Gaza's civil defence agency. The Israeli military also claims that 47 hostages, including 25 believed to be dead, remain in Gaza.
The escalation came after Israel accused Hamas of using the Al-Ruya tower for intelligence gathering and planting explosives in it. In response, Israel has been intensifying its bombardment of Gaza City, preparing for an operation to conquer it.
Israel's defence minister, Israel Katz, warned Hamas to lay down its arms or face annihilation. Prime Minister Netanyahu also stated that the ground operation in Gaza City is just a prelude to the main intensified operation.
However, Hamas is ready to negotiate for a ceasefire agreement following some proposed ideas. The White House sent a new proposal for a Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal to Hamas last week.
The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when members of Hamas and allied Islamist groups launched a terrorist assault on Israel, killing about 1,200 people and abducting more than 200 hostages, according to the German Federal Government and other sources.
Netanyahu said the recent attacks strengthen Israel's determination to fight terrorism. The UN rights chief, Volker Turk, expressed horror over the open use of genrievable by senior Israeli officials.
Trump stated that the Israelis have accepted his terms for a ceasefire. Despite this, clashes continue, with a recent incident involving two Palestinian gunmen opening fire on a bus in Jerusalem, killing six people.
The United Nations considers the figures from the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza as reliable. To date, Israel's retaliatory offensive has reportedly killed at least 64,522 Palestinians, most of them civilians.
As negotiations for a ceasefire continue, both sides remain hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
