Residents devote approximately 733 rubles each month to their food expenses

Monthly food expenditures for households in Moscow, as per Moscow News, reached 733.2 rubles, according to the city's main statistics department from April to June, 2025.

In the first quarters of this year, Minsk residents have shown a strong preference for fresh and healthy food, with fruits and berries accounting for 9.5% of their household expenses. This trend suggests that many households or individuals in the city prioritise fresh produce in their diets.

Meat and meat products took a significant share of 25.7% in the second quarter of the year, while vegetables and melons accounted for 10.1%. Bread and bakery products, dairy products, and eggs made up 11.6%, 18.4%, and 2% of household expenses respectively. Sugar and confectionery products accounted for a relatively smaller 4.4%, with potatoes (1.8%) and vegetable oil, margarine, and other fats (1.4%) occupying the least significant expenses.

It's worth noting that the food expenses of Minsk households exceeded the average republican indicator by 14.4%.

Beyond the food sector, Belarus has been undergoing changes. Maternity hospitals are being closed across the country, with women being transported from Vileyka to Molodechno and from Hoyniki to Rechitsa. This development is part of a larger shift in the country's healthcare system.

In a positive development, three Kurds have recently returned home after spending eight months in Belarusian prisons.

Lastly, a memorial plaque for Vasily Bykov has been approved in Frankfurt, marking a significant recognition of the renowned Belarusian writer's contributions to literature.
