Residential Structures by Sarow: Andreas Sarow continues to create visuals and contemplations once more

In the heart of Pforzheim, a unique art project is set to debut on May 18, 2018. Titled "Factory," this intriguing installation is the brainchild of local real estate dealer Andreas Sarow.

Located at Untere Wilferdinger Street 3, west of the main station and visible from both the railway and street sides, the art project is an intervention on a two-part former handling building of the German Federal Railway. Sarow has extended the building and colorfully distorted the new ensemble, creating a striking visual spectacle.

"Factory" can be interpreted as an architectural response to the "Simplify your life" movement and the rising housing prices. The project seems to challenge traditional building regulations, much like the calls for destruction of templates made by architectural pioneers Mies van der Rohe and Gropius.

The art project appears to produce houses "off the rack," with a cutting device that standardizes the house in terms of uniformity and dimensions. This could be seen as a commentary on the mass-production of housing and its impact on urban landscapes.

Discussions for further artistic interventions are already underway, suggesting that "Factory" is planned to serve as a platform for creativity and innovation. The opening event will feature DJ Eros Bilgic, a renowned DJ and music producer, who will be playing his set from 7 pm to 11 pm.

The opening vernissage is expected to be attended by Mayor Peter Boch, adding an air of official endorsement to this exciting new project. Against the background of the increase in antisemitically motivated acts of violence, the interpretations of the art project are just as timely as the considerations inherent in housing and living.

"Factory" invites reflection on the city, its building forms, and new ways of thinking. With additional watchtowers on the tracks, flags in black-white-magenta, and a cutting device reminiscent of an oversized guillotine, the project offers multiple avenues for interpretation and discussion.

So, mark your calendars for May 18, 2018, and join us for the opening of "Factory," a non-place that serves as a meeting point until at least the end of 2018.
