The construction of a new residential complex on Frankenallee in Frankfurt's Gallus quarter has resumed, marking a significant milestone in the area's growth. The site, once home to the long-standing Gruber car dealership for 81 years before closing in 2019, is now being transformed into a modern inner-city development.

The complex, handled by property management company MVGM, consists of three buildings: House A, House B, and House C, each with unique configurations. The main building, a four-story structure with a staggered attic, stands as the centrepiece. The rear buildings also have four stories and a rooftop terrace, while a standalone building in the inner courtyard complements the ensemble with three full stories and an additional attic.

The new residential complex, set to house 104 units, is a testament to contemporary urban development. The ground floor will offer spacious bike storage areas, while the ground-floor apartments will boast small gardens. The upper-floor apartments will feature balconies, and the top-floor apartments will enjoy their own rooftop terraces. The entire site will be enhanced by targeted planting of trees and green spaces, and the roof area will be extensively greened.

An underground garage is included in the building complex, providing 63 parking spaces. The aim is to cater to singles, couples, and families seeking inner-city housing.

The project developer, Project Real Estate AG, has faced some challenges during the construction process. Uncertainty arose about when work could resume around the building complex due to the insolvency of the original project developer. However, the company has persevered, and the building facade on Franken Street is now fully completed, with the buildings appearing largely completed, albeit with construction equipment, containers, and fences still present on site.

The former site of the Gruber car dealership holds a unique historical significance for Elvis Presley fans. In December 1958, the legendary musician picked up a BMW 507 at the dealership, making it a significant location in the annals of rock 'n' roll history.

As the construction progresses, the new residential complex on Frankenallee is set to become a landmark in Frankfurt's Gallus district, contributing to its growth and providing modern, sustainable housing options for its residents.
