Estepona Introduces Neighbourhood Brigade for Community Improvement

The Estepona Council has launched a new initiative called the "Brigade de Barrio" or "Neighbourhood Brigade". This team of dedicated workers aims to enhance the upkeep and improvement of Estepona's residential and commercial areas.

The Brigade de Barrio is a permanent fixture in Estepona, consisting of a team of 10 permanent workers. When additional manpower is required, the workforce expands with council workers joining in. The brigade operates like a comprehensive improvement team for neighbourhoods, undertaking various types of renovation and repair work, including masonry, painting, road signage, electrical and plumbing works, gardening, road and pavement repairs, and the removal of architectural barriers.

The scope of the Brigade de Barrio's work includes addressing issues reported through the Green Line municipal service, a platform for residents to communicate maintenance issues directly to the council. Issues such as potholes, graffiti, trip hazards, neglected garden features, and more can be reported via the Green Line municipal service's website (www.lineaverdeestepona.com) or mobile apps available on Android and iOS.

The Green Line municipal service provides prompt responses and updates on resolutions for reported issues. Once reported, the Brigade de Barrio will focus on the specific area until renovation work is complete. Currently, the brigade has started its operations in the Blas Infante and Picasso neighbourhoods and will remain there until September. After completing the necessary works in the initial neighbourhoods, the brigade will rotate to other areas of Estepona to ensure that all neighbourhoods in the town benefit from the ongoing service provided by the Brigade de Barrio.

The council is also using the Green Line municipal service to collect resident feedback on maintenance issues. This feedback will help the council prioritise and focus on the most pressing needs of the community.

At present, there is no publicly available information on the name or identity of the leader of the Brigade de Barrio in Estepona. However, the council has assured the public that they are committed to improving the quality of life in Estepona and that the Brigade de Barrio is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

In conclusion, the introduction of the Brigade de Barrio is a positive development for the residents of Estepona. The team's focus on improving the upkeep and amenities of the town's residential and commercial areas will undoubtedly make Estepona a more attractive and livable place for all.
