Research Position: Focus on Social Science and Ethical Studies in Biology

Baylor College of Medicine's Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy is currently seeking a full-time Research Assistant. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on several current funded and pilot projects related to ethical and policy issues in precision medicine, genetics of epilepsy, polygenic risk scores, and genetics of cardiometabolic disorders.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Bioethics, Public Health, Social Sciences (sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.) or a related field. Experience or training related to the ethical, social, and legal implications of genomics is preferred.

Key responsibilities include managing survey programming and data management, conducting surveys, qualitative interviews, and assisting with analysis. The Research Assistant is also expected to have experience leading or contributing to scholarly papers and presentations.

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with Dr. Stacey Pereira and other project team members. The Research Assistant should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and have strong organizational skills.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments, understanding processes, and resolving issues. They will conduct literature searches, build reports based on findings, track project deliverables, and help develop scholarly papers and presentations.

The minimum qualifications for the position include a Bachelor's degree in Bioethics, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field, and two years of relevant experience. Experience using REDCap, Qualtrics, MAXQDA, or other survey administration and qualitative analysis software is required.
