The Westgate Las Vegas' Imperial Sky Villa, a luxurious accommodation that rents for $20,000 a night, is a modern tribute to Elvis Presley's legacy, but it is not the actual suite where he lived from 1969 to 1976.

Elvis made Las Vegas history at the International Theater (formerly the International Hotel) at Westgate Las Vegas, where he had a historic residency from 1969 to 1976. During this time, the original rooms associated with Elvis, such as his dressing and addressing rooms, were part of the venue. However, the Imperial Sky Villa, as it is known today, is a new creation made to honour his legacy.

Hilton Hotels chose to convert the Imperial Suite into the Imperial Sky Villa, rather than turning it into an Elvis museum like Graceland. The suite Elvis lived in, known as Room 3000 or the Imperial Suite, was a more modest 5,000 square feet. In contrast, the Imperial Sky Villa spans 8,200 square feet, surrounding a pool that Elvis never had.

The original Imperial Suite was a grand space, featuring opulent decor with vibrant jewel-toned colours, gold finishes, plush carpeting, a grand white piano, and a large dining area. Today, Elvis photos line the walls of the Imperial Sky Villa, but one must use their imagination to visualize the original suite, as it has been significantly transformed.

Elvis spent several weeks in the Imperial Suite doting on his daughter, Lisa Marie. One of the most notable guests he hosted in the suite was Muhammad Ali, who visited in 1973. Elvis gifted Ali a custom-designed bejeweled boxing robe, and Ali reciprocated by giving Elvis boxing gloves signed: "Elvis, You are the Greatest. From Muhammad Ali."

Despite the absence of the original suite, the Imperial Sky Villa's connection to Elvis's legacy is undeniable. It was constructed on some of the space that once housed Elvis' suite, and it serves as a testament to his enduring impact on popular culture. While it may not be the actual room where Elvis lived, it stands as a symbol of his time in Las Vegas, offering a glimpse into the glamorous world he inhabited.
