"Relocation Announced: District Museum in Alt-Marzahn Changes Name to 'Museum Good'"

The District Museum Marzahn-Hellersdorf is set for a new chapter as it moves its exhibition activities to the renovated "Museumsgut" at Alt-Marzahn 23. The historic village centre of Alt-Marzahn has been home to the museum for over 25 years, but the new location will offer a contemporary foundation for future work.

The new permanent exhibition at "Museumsgut" will cover historical developments from early settlement to the present day, with themes such as migration and social change given stronger consideration. This extensive exhibition will be complemented by special exhibitions, museum pedagogical programs, and events.

The renovation of the courtyard complex began in the summer of 2023, with a total investment of almost six million euros. More than 5.2 million euros of this investment came from the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building, and Housing. The renovation includes improvements in barrier-free access and energy standards.

The architectural planning for the renovation was done by the office Rhosho-Architekten, while the architect responsible for the renovation of the "KulturGut" remains unspecified in the provided search results.

With the addition of "Museumsgut", the District Museum will form the ensemble "Museum Marzahn-Hellersdorf" in the future. The ensemble will also include the village school, which will join "Museumsgut" at Alt-Marzahn 23. A second building, the former library at Anger 55, was added in 2012, housing the permanent exhibition on the history of the district.

The new location will cooperate with Agrarboerse Deutschland Ost e.V., which operates a café in the front house and offers additional programs. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the cultural identity of the district at the historic village square.

After the current exhibition at the previous location ends in November 2025, the house at Alt-Marzahn 55 will be abandoned. However, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the renovated buildings for the first time on September 13 and 14, 2025, during the nationwide Day of Open Heritage.

With the move to "Museumsgut", the District Museum Marzahn-Hellersdorf is not only gaining additional space but also establishing a contemporary institution in Marzahn-Hellersdorf alongside the village school. This ensemble is set to become a significant cultural attraction in the district.
