Relaxed atmosphere, casual vibes, and a hint of tradition: Watchmaking's laid-back gathering event

In the heart of Switzerland, amidst an open, revamped venue adorned with striped deck chairs and a canopy of sails, Geneva Watch Days has commenced its sixth edition. This nautically themed pavilion is a testament to the event's commitment to diversity and its mission to bring together humans who love watches.

Founded as a response to the economic downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic, Geneva Watch Days has grown into a convivial, collective celebration of horology. While the individual founder remains unspecified, Jean-Christophe Babin, the president of Geneva Watch Days and CEO of Bulgari, stands at the helm.

This year, Geneva Watch Days hosts the world's first ever timing adjustment competition, open to both professionals and amateurs. The exhibition features 150 timepieces, ranging from unfamiliar designs to classics, such as TAG Heuer's square-faced 1969 Monaco watch, made famous by Steve McQueen.

Behrens and Konstantin Chaykin's Ace of Hearts timepiece, with its hour and minute eyes, is also on display. Maximilian Büsser, CEO of MB&F, expresses his enthusiasm for the event, stating it is a place where "humans who love watches talk to humans who love watches."

The fair prides itself on an open, eclectic atmosphere, welcoming both established brands and innovative independents. Amateur participants receive free coaching from students at the Geneva Watchmaking School.

The luxury industry, including Geneva Watch Days, is facing geopolitical uncertainties. However, Babin remains optimistic about the future of the luxury trade, citing luxury's genetic appeal that has allowed it to survive for thousands of years.

Daily debates and symposia are held, where industry leaders and outsiders discuss shared challenges such as sustainability, customer experience, GenZ engagement, and attracting young people into the sector. Geneva Watch Days is determined to stay fresh and forward-looking, organizing a varied program that includes these discussions.

With a record 66 brands participating this year, Geneva Watch Days continues to be a must-visit event for watch enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. As the event unfolds, it promises to be a celebration of time, craftsmanship, and the shared passion for horology.
