Visma Strengthens its Presence in the DACH Region with Acquisitions of milia.io and Taxy.io
In a significant move, Visma, a leading provider of business software, has announced the acquisition of milia.io and Taxy.io. These acquisitions are set to expand Visma's offerings to accountants and tax advisors in the DACH region.
Founded in 2018, Taxy.io is a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University and has pioneered the use of AI in tax advisory. With over 1,500 tax firms and tax departments across Germany using its services, Taxy.io has served thousands of tax and legal professionals and solved millions of tax cases with AI. The AI tax assistant from Taxy.io helps tax advisors respond efficiently and precisely to complex tax inquiries.
In a recent development, Taxy.io's AI tax assistant became the first digital assistant to pass the official tax advisor exam. This achievement underscores the platform's accuracy and reliability in the field of tax advisory.
The founders of Taxy.io, Daniel Kirch, Sven Peper, Steffen Kirchhoff, and Sven Weber, will continue to lead the company as co-CEOs, with Kirchhoff staying on board as CTO. Taxy.io is excited to continue its growth story with Visma as an international leader in tax, accounting, and legal software.
On the other hand, milia.io was co-founded by Tilman Walch and Michel Menk in 2021. The milia.io platform covers end-to-end workflows and is easily integrated with leading accounting systems. It offers an AI-powered platform for accounting offices that facilitates client collaboration and automates internal workflows.
Becoming part of Visma marks the next step in realizing milia.io's vision. This acquisition strengthens milia.io's position in AI-driven automation for tax and accounting firms and opens new opportunities for sustainable growth.
Visma, with a revenue of € 2.8 billion in 2024, 17,500 employees, and 2.1 million customers across Europe and Latin America, has made ten acquisitions so far this year and more than 350 in total. Ari-Pekka Salovaara, Chief Growth Officer at Visma, confirmed continued growth in Germany through the acquisitions of milia.io and Taxy.io. These two acquisitions will be perfect additions to Visma's suite of software offerings in the DACH region.
Taxy.io's mission is to help all entrepreneurs and companies tackle the burden of regulation. Similarly, milia.io aims to simplify and support the work of accountants and tax advisors. Both companies are leading the way in leveraging AI to automate, simplify, and support the work of professionals in the tax and accounting sector.
With these acquisitions, Visma is poised to strengthen its position in the DACH region and continue its growth trajectory in the tax, accounting, and legal software market.
