Reinforcements made to Cottbus's defense with addition of two new players.
In a move to bolster their defense, German club Energie Cottbus has signed defensive all-rounder Anderson Lucoqui on a free transfer, and loaned central defender King Manu from Fortuna Düsseldorf for the current season.
Anderson Lucoqui, a 28-year-old Angolan international, has had a varied professional football career in Germany, playing for eight different clubs. He completed his youth training at the youth academies of 1. FC Köln, Bayer Leverkusen, and Düsseldorf before making his professional debut with Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Lucoqui's professional experiences include stints at Hansa Rostock, Hertha BSC, Eintracht Braunschweig, 1860 Munich, Arminia Bielefeld, FSV Mainz 05, and most recently, Düsseldorf. He brings a wealth of experience to Cottbus, having played a total of 34 Bundesliga, 50 second-tier, and 12 third-tier games.
King Manu, standing at 1.95 meters tall, also joins the defensive ranks at Cottbus. He has experience in the third tier, having played 16 games for Hansa Rostock last season and five games for Düsseldorf in the second tier. Manu was loaned to Cottbus from Düsseldorf for the current season.
With the addition of Lucoqui and Manu, Cottbus has further strengthened its defense. Lucoqui's move to Cottbus marks his eighth stop in German professional football, while Manu has previously been a part of the Düsseldorf squad. Both players bring valuable experience and a strong defensive presence to the team.
Anderson Lucoqui's contract with 1860 Munich ended before his move to Cottbus, while King Manu remains under contract with Düsseldorf for the duration of the current season. The signings of Lucoqui and Manu are a clear indication of Cottbus's intent to compete strongly in the upcoming season.
