The Regensburg Theater is gearing up for an exciting 2025/26 season as it transitions from a city theater to a future state theater. The new season, which commences on September 13, promises a captivating array of performances under the theme of EXISTENZEN.

Last season, the theater welcomed a record-breaking 184,456 visitors, making it the second-highest figure in the theater's history. The occupancy rate was also impressive, reaching 90.70 percent.

As the grand opening approaches on September 13, the theater has announced some enticing pre-season shows. Until the first premieres, the Young Theater will present revivals of "Frederick" and the dance production "Inside Out".

The highlight of the season undoubtedly is the opera spectacle "Ghosts of Versailles" by John Corigliano. This will premiere on Bismarckplatz on September 27, marking the second time it will be performed in Germany. Corigliano will be present in person for the premiere, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

The opera's premiere will be preceded by a Theater Festival and an Opening Gala on September 20. The following day, on September 21, the opera will be staged, with the authors of "Praise of the Just", Lutz HΓΌbner and Sarah Nemitz, also present. "Praise of the Just" will have its premiere at the Antoniushaus on September 28.

Innovative formats such as Balcony Singing, Velodrome Special Tours, and dance performance PASSAGES were introduced last season and will continue to enrich the theater-going experience.

On September 26, the dance performance "Dance at Home" will be presented at St. Theresia as a benefit event for Leukemia Help Ostbayern. Admission for "Dance at Home" is free.

The first premiere in the Young Theater will follow in early October. The theater is looking forward to welcoming visitors old and new for an unforgettable season of theater and dance.
