Refurbished Kebony Wooden Terrace Finishes Club Les Palmiers in the South of France
In the picturesque town of Saint-Tropez, France, the Palm Beach Club has unveiled a new 800sq/m Kebony wood terrace. The terrace, which is part of a restaurant and a legendary beach at the club, has been meticulously designed and constructed to blend seamlessly with the Mediterranean vegetation and its natural surroundings.
The design and construction of the building housing the Kebony wood terrace were overseen by the Parisian architecture firm Atelier Philippe Madec. The firm, known for its eco-friendly and durable designs, chose Kebony wood for its high durability, hardness, and dimensional stability, without resorting to tropical deforestation.
The owners of the Palm Beach Club were attracted to Kebony wood for its aesthetics, hardness, and the softness of its dense grain. The Kebony wood terrace, with its natural silver-grey patina, resembles a spray-swept deck, complementing the Mediterranean ambiance.
The ecological treatment of Kebony wood enhances its solidity and durability. Kebony wood, a patented Norwegian technology, is modified softwood from sustainable sources, treated with furfuryl alcohol derived from agricultural crop waste. This ensures no harm to the marine environment.
The design of the terrace's Kebony wood blends harmoniously with the building's aesthetic. The roof and edges of the terrace resemble a boat deck, mimicking the design of a ship deck. The building features natural skylights, wood piles, and natural ventilation, further emphasizing the eco-friendly qualities of the project.
As part of the urban planning study for the project, suitable traffic and parking areas were created. David Florentin, head of FG Design and Florentin Menuiserie, managed the wooden terrace and woodwork of the building.
The construction projects had to be environmentally friendly and worthy of the renowned international site. The Palm Beach Club continues to echo the environmentally friendly ethos of the project with its new Kebony wood terrace.
The company responsible for the design and construction supervision of the building was not identified in the provided search results. However, the collaboration between Atelier Philippe Madec, David Florentin, and Kebony has resulted in a stunning addition to the Saint-Tropez coastline, offering a sustainable and stylish dining experience to its visitors.
