The Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt had a solid outing on Monday, counters with an 11-7 record and 4.14 ERA. The Reds have not announced their starting pitcher for Monday's first game against the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays will counter with Hunter Greene, who boasts a 5-4 record and 2.81 ERA.
The Athletics will also be in action on Monday, sending out rookie RHP Luis Morales (2-0, 1.19) to take on Sonny Gray (Cardinals) who pitches with a 12-7 record and 4.19 ERA. The stage is set for an exciting series of games.
In other news, Matt McLain marked his second consecutive game with a home run, hitting one in the 2nd and 8th innings for the Reds. Elly De La Cruz had a double leading off the 5th inning, and Ke'Bryan Hayes had a two-out single in the 7th inning, scoring Elly De La Cruz and extending the Reds' lead to 6-4. Jimmy Crooks also made his mark, hitting his first big league hit and first start behind the plate, cutting the Reds' lead to 5-4 in the 7th inning.
Tony Santillan struck out the side in the 8th inning for the Reds, and Emilio Pagán secured the win with a perfect 9th inning, striking out the side and earning his 26th save.
