What lies beneath? - Red Bull's director Mintzlaff gets a new position.

Red Bull's Oliver Mintzlaff (48) has a new role: he now serves on the Supervisory Board of sporting goods manufacturer Adidas. Elected during the annual general meeting in Fürth in May, Mintzlaff was chosen for his vast network.

He is one of 16 members and part of a prominent group, which includes three-time Olympic champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Christian Klein (CEO of software giant SAP), and Thomas Rabe (CEO of Bertelsmann). Rabe, who was re-elected for a final term as Chair, presides over the board.

Previously, Mintzlaff held the position of Red Bull boss and was in charge of "Corporate Projects and Investments." With this responsibility, he governs the entire Red Bull sports empire, making him one of the most influential figures in the sports world. Before his current role, Mintzlaff was managing director at Bundesliga team RB Leipzig.

Mintzlaff maintains a close relationship with his former club as Supervisory Board Chairman, regularly attending matches. Additionally, he played a significant role in securing a new kit supplier deal for RB Leipzig - from this season, the club will switch from Nike to Puma in a €150 million ten-year contract.

In addition to his involvement with Adidas's Supervisory Board, Mintzlaff became a board member of the influential Club Association ECA (European Club Association) in September 2023.

He is also a vital participant in the working group for the first-ever Club World Cup, alongside Nasser Al-Khelaifi (Paris Saint-Germain), Ferran Soriano (Manchester City), Miguel Angel Gil Marin (Atletico Madrid), and Steven Zhang (Inter Milan).

There is no potential conflict of interest with Mintzlaff's appointment to the Adidas Supervisory Board because he does not oversee the operational side of the company as a board member.
