1.FC Cologne are reportedly close to securing the signature of Alessio Castro-Montes, a versatile winger currently with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian top-flight.
The 28-year-old, known for his ability to play on both the right and left wings, has made a total of 58 appearances for Saint-Gilloise, including some in the Champions League qualifiers and Europa League.
Castro-Montes made his breakthrough at KAA Gent before joining Saint-Gilloise in 2023. His contract with the Belgian side expires in the summer of 2026.
The managing director of Saint-Gilloise, Alex Muzio, is said to be the one facilitating the potential transfer to 1.FC Cologne. However, the deal has not been officially confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, FC Cologne had previously been pursuing Paderborn's winger Raphael Obermair, but a deal for Obermair has yet to materialize.
Castro-Montes' transfer to 1.FC Cologne has been reported by several sources, including Sky, Kicker, and the Cologne City-Anzeiger.
It remains to be seen if this deal will go through, but if it does, Castro-Montes could bring a new dimension to the Cologne attack.
