Ulysse Nardin Introduces the Exclusive Freak Crystalium Watch

Ulysse Nardin, a renowned Swiss watchmaker, has unveiled a new addition to its Freak line – the Freak Crystalium. This limited-edition timepiece is a testament to the brand's pioneering spirit and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking technology.

The Freak Crystalium is a unique piece, with only 50 examples being created worldwide. Each watch boasts a one-of-a-kind crystal structure, thanks to the high-tech Crystalium material used in its creation. This innovative material, based on ruthenium – a metal ten times rarer than platinum – is used for the dial, giving the watch a luxurious and dramatic aesthetic.

The dial of the Freak Crystalium is enhanced with a rose gold PVD coating and subtle black shading, which emphasizes depth and reveals different faces with each change of light. The crystal relief on the dial adds to its raw, dramatic, and luxurious appeal, with each relief being a unique combination of natural process, science, and craftsmanship.

The Freak Crystalium maintains the DNA of its predecessor, being radical, uncompromising, and different. It features a rotating carousel to indicate the time, with the hour hand being the Crystalium disc itself. A skeletonized arrow indicates the minutes, circling with the movement. The timepiece is powered by the automatic caliber UN-230, made in Ulysse Nardin's Sigatec laboratory for silicon technology.

The Freak Crystalium is housed in a light and resistant case made of black DLC-coated titanium, measuring 43 millimeters. The watch is part of the continuation of the series from Ulysse Nardin's Freak line, which was introduced in 2001 with a watch that had no crown, no classic hands, and a rotating movement that indicated time.

The Freak Crystalium retails for 42,700 euros, making it a coveted addition to any watch collection. This exclusive timepiece allows the sky to be measured anew, following in the footsteps of the TAG Heuer Carrera Astronomer.

Ulysse Nardin has established itself as a pioneer in silicon technology, with the Freak series being no exception. The Freak has been an unconventional legend, inspiring over 20 patents and cementing Ulysse Nardin's position as a trailblazer in the watchmaking industry.

In 2019, Ulysse Nardin released the Freak X, a more wearable version of the Freak at 43 millimeters in diameter, but with a crown. The Freak Crystalium can be seen as a continuation of this trend, offering a unique and exclusive experience to its lucky owners.

In summary, the Freak Crystalium is a masterpiece of watchmaking craftsmanship, blending natural processes with cutting-edge technology to create a timepiece that is as unique as it is beautiful. With only 50 pieces available worldwide, this limited-edition watch is sure to be a prized possession for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
