Rapper Disarstar Embraces Non-Partisan Stance While Advocating for Democratic Socialism
Gerrit Falius, better known by his stage name Disarstar, has made a name for himself in the music industry with his politically charged lyrics and commitment to democratic socialism. However, the Dutch rapper maintains a distance from political parties, including Germany's Left Party (Die Linke).
Disarstar's latest album, "Hamburger Uprising," was released last Friday, adding to his growing discography. One of the standout tracks from the album, "Siamo Tutti," has been streamed over 6.7 million times on Spotify. Often described as an antifascist anthem, the song's popularity highlights Disarstar's ability to resonate with a wide audience.
While Disarstar identifies as a Marxist and advocates for democratic socialism, he is critical of the Left Party's Instagram posts and tiles. He expresses concern about the party's voting results, particularly on the wealth tax, and is not fully convinced by their practices.
Heidi Reichinnek, a parliamentary co-leader of Die Linke, is a well-known figure in German politics. Known for her support of left-wing populism, antimilitarism, and policies such as the nationalization of the railway, she also advocates for sanctions against Russian oligarchs close to Putin. Despite Disarstar's critical stance towards the Left Party, he follows many left-wing politicians on Instagram, including Reichinnek. Interestingly, Reichinnek is not currently following Disarstar, but the rapper has stated that he will follow her back within 30 seconds if she decides to follow him.
Disarstar finds it unserious to be harnessed to a party political cart, preferring to maintain his independence in his political views. This non-partisan approach seems to be a defining characteristic of Disarstar's public persona, as he distances himself from traditional party politics while continuing to advocate for his beliefs.
