Ranking of the Most Significant MICE Cities in Korea, Excluding Seoul
Gyeongju, once the capital of the Silla Kingdom, is now a future-ready destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). One of the key venues in Gyeongju is the Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), which boasts 15 conference rooms and can accommodate up to 3,500 people. The prestigious APEC summit will be held in HICO in November 2025.
Gyeongju is not the only city in Korea making waves in the MICE industry. The city hosting the APEC summit in 2025 is Seoul, with several related meetings and events also taking place in other Korean cities such as Incheon, Busan, and Gyeongju.
Incheon, home to Korea's largest international airport, is a rapidly growing MICE hub. The new Inspire Entertainment Resort, opened in 2024, is a testament to this growth. Located conveniently near the airport, the resort can accommodate up to 15,000 guests.
Incheon offers more than just modern infrastructure and excellent transportation. It also boasts unique venues like the Panoramic 65, an ideal location for MICE events with its breathtaking views of the city.
Gyeongju and Incheon are not just about business, though. Both cities offer a rich cultural heritage. Gyeongju is home to cultural attractions like the Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, while Incheon's offerings include the Gyeonggijeon Shrine, the final resting place of the kings of the Silla Dynasty.
