Captain excluded from European Championship participation but ... - Rangnick selects two Bremen standouts.

On a Tuesday evening, Ralf Rangnick (65 years old) announced the Austria provisional squad for the European Championship. Two current and one future Werder Bremen stars will be a part of this team!

Despite exhibiting great performance in the last Bundesliga matches, Werder's captain Marco Friedl (26 years old) failed to make the cut. He had reached out to Rangnick several times but to no avail. This means Friedl will have to watch the European Championship from his couch.

The ÖFB (Austrian Football Association) has selected 29 players, with three of them getting dropped after the preparations. The team, which includes no captain and Real star David Alaba (31 years old), has two more friendly matches remaining. They will face Serbia on June 4 and Switzerland on June 8.

Grüll, who had been excluded by Rangnick during the March international break due to a homophobia scandal during the Vienna derby, is once again part of the team.
