Rail connections established between Berlin/Leipzig and Poland
A series of new night train connections are set to revolutionise travel between Germany and Poland, with a direct link to Ukraine also on the horizon.
From mid-December 2025, Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Polish State Railways (PKP Intercity) will operate a new nightly Eurocity train between Berlin and Przemysl, a border town between Poland and Ukraine, via Breslau and Krakau. This new connection will mark the first direct train service between Germany and Ukraine.
The additional daily connection between Warsaw and Berlin will also be a night train, adding to the increased frequency of travel options between the two cities. From December 14, a new night train connection will be established between Leipzig and Krakow, with two trains running daily in each direction.
In total, seven pairs of night trains will operate between Germany and Poland at two-hour intervals. The new services will also include a planned night train connection between Berlin and Chelm via Lodz and Warsaw.
The companies are responding to the significantly increased demand for travel between Germany and Poland. The new night train services aim to increase travel options and provide more frequent travel opportunities for passengers.
The number of direct connections between Germany and Poland will increase from 11 to 17, with the addition of these new night trains. The new services will offer two-hour intervals between train departures on the specified routes.
The new night train service between Leipzig and Krakow will also stop at Wroclaw, further expanding the reach of these new connections.
