Quaint Poppenreuther church hosting age-old festival lineup
The much-anticipated Poppenreuth Kirchweih festival is set to return from Friday, September 5th, to Monday, September 8th, 2025, in the heart of Fürth, Germany. This traditional Bavarian festival promises four days of entertainment, music, and community spirit.
The festivities kick off on Friday at 4 pm, with Mayor Thomas Jung officially tapping the first beer with the Cross Farmers at 7:30 pm. The "Gerchli" band will provide musical accompaniment for the evening.
On Saturday, the programme begins at 2 pm. The Maypole will be erected at 5 pm, and the evening will be filled with entertainment from the band "The Moonlights" in the festival tent.
Sunday's midday meal will be accompanied by musical entertainment starting at 12 pm. At 3 pm, the "Lichtenauer Musikanten" band will enter the festival, and at 2 pm, the grand festival procession will begin. The traditional Betzen dance will conclude the festival on Kirchweih Monday at 5 pm.
On Kirchweih Monday, a breakfast session with the "Lichtenauer Musikanten" will take place from 11 am. This marks the final day of the Poppenreuth Kirchweih festival, a celebration not to be missed!
The "Lichtenauer Musikanten" are a musical group performing at the Poppenreuth Kirchweih festival, specifically appearing on Sunday afternoon (at the festival procession) and Monday morning (at the Frühschoppen). Their lively tunes add to the festive atmosphere throughout the event.
So, mark your calendars and join the community of Fürth for a weekend filled with music, dance, and camaraderie at the Poppenreuth Kirchweih festival!
