QPR's Diakite has been dispatched to Al Ittihad on a temporary basis
Samba Diakite, a 25-year-old midfielder from Mali, will be spending the 2014-15 season on loan at Al Ittihad, a major club in Saudi Arabia. This news was confirmed on QPR's website.
Diakite's journey with QPR began in the 2012-13 campaign, when he completed a six-month loan deal with the English club. His initial stint proved successful, as he played nine Premier League matches and scored one goal for QPR.
However, after joining QPR permanently from Ligue 1 club Nancy, Diakite struggled to impress. This led to his loan to Al Ittihad for the 2014-15 season.
Despite his struggles at QPR, Diakite has managed to play 14 league games for the club. In total, he has played 20 league games for QPR and Watford, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.
Al Ittihad, last winners of the Saudi Professional League in the 2008-09 season, will be hoping that Diakite's experience and skills can help them regain their former glory. The head coach (training leader) of Al Ittihad during the 2014-15 season is Raul Caneda Perez.
QPR confirmed the loan of Diakite to Al Ittihad, marking a new chapter in the midfielder's career. It remains to be seen how Diakite will perform in the Saudi Professional League and whether he can make a significant impact for Al Ittihad.
