Putin's palace fire has been extinguished and under control for the past four days
A significant forest fire that broke out near the Russian city of Gelendzhik has been successfully extinguished on August 31, according to an announcement made by the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, on his Telegram channel.
The fire, which covered an area of approximately 42 hectares, started near the village of Krinitsa and was fought for four days. Over 500 people and 100 units of equipment, including an IL-76 and two Mi-8 helicopters, were dispatched to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire was a crash of a Ukrainian drone, although the exact nature and location of the crash remain unspecified. It is worth noting that the fire occurred near Gelendzhik, a city in southern Russia, and some media outlets have suggested that the fire was near "Putin's Palace," a claim made by the Fund for the Fight Against Corruption (FBK) that a "palace" of Russian President Vladimir Putin is located about 10 kilometers from Krinitsa, on Cape Idokopas. However, these claims have not been confirmed.
As of now, no information has been provided about the extent of the damage caused by the fire or the current state of the affected area. The extinguishing of the fire marks a relief for the local community and the environment, and efforts are likely to focus on assessing and addressing any damage caused by the fire in the coming days.
