The city of Astana is gearing up for a significant expansion in its educational sector, as the new academic year approaches. Here's a roundup of the latest developments in the Astana education system.

In a bid to enhance school safety and security, an additional 2,000 cameras will be installed in 100 schools across the city. These cameras, along with panic buttons, are connected to the Situation Center and the Operational Management Center of the Police Department, ensuring a swift response to any emergencies.

The number of educational institutions in Astana has seen a growth of 10 compared to the previous year, bringing the total to 206. This includes 122 state-owned, 77 private, and 7 republican institutions.

To cater to the increasing student population, over 310,000 students are expected to be enrolled this year, a marked increase from the 288,000 enrolled last year. As of now, 30,057 students have been enrolled, with 26,666 in state schools and 3,508 in private ones.

The "Universal Education" program is ensuring that every student is provided with textbooks by the start of the new academic year. Additionally, material assistance is provided to children from certain categories of families by September 30, amounting to 46,000 tenge per child.

The "Path to School" charity campaign is underway, aiming to cover over 8,500 children with the support of sponsors.

In an effort to improve infrastructure, 32 new classrooms have been purchased for the city's schools this year. Moreover, 98% of schools in Astana are equipped with subject classrooms, and all state schools have a 100% video surveillance system.

Face-ID access control systems have been implemented in 111 schools in Astana, and 14 schools will be commissioned for the 2025-2026 academic year, providing a total of 43,744 places.

Under the "Keleşek mektepterі" program, 785 teachers have been hired, and 398 graduates trained under the akim's grants and 146 teachers transferred from other regions have been employed.

In a commendable move to address the needs of underprivileged students, in 115 schools, students in primary grades and children from socially vulnerable categories will be provided with 100% free hot meals.
