Psychological Association in NRW Issues Statement for Psychology Day, Discussing Ethics: "Am I Required to be Morally Righteous as a Psychologist?"

The German Association of Psychologists (BDP) is set to host a Day of Psychology in Düsseldorf on August 18, 2025. The event, which will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott in Düsseldorf Media Harbor, is open to professionals, students, media representatives, and other interested parties.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Marcus Poenisch from the Schulz von Thun Institute. Poenisch, a communication psychologist, will address the theme of the event, "Do I have to be a 'good person' as a psychologist?" The keynote speech will delve into the tension between professional role and private life, and also touch upon instances where professional attitude is unconsciously carried over into private life.

Following the keynote speech, a panel discussion and Q&A session will take place, providing participants with the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a dialogue about the topic.

Registration for the event is required in advance for planning purposes. Interested parties can find registration information at the email address [email protected].

The BDP, founded over 75 years ago on 5 June 1946 in Hamburg, is the contact and information point for politics, media, and the public, representing the professional interests of self-employed, freelance, and employed/civil servant psychologists.

The Day of Psychology on August 30, 2025, from 9:30 to 15:30, will also focus on the impact of the professional role on private relationships.

For more information about the event and the BDP, please visit their website or follow them on social media channels. The BDP North Rhine-Westphalia Branch is the host for this year's conference. Petra Jagow, the Chair of the North Rhine-Westphalia Branch in the BDP e.V., is leading the organisation of the event.

We look forward to seeing you at the Day of Psychology in Düsseldorf!
