In the picturesque town of Klapfenhardt, a contentious issue has arisen surrounding a planned giga-industrial area. The town, known for its verdant forests and tranquil atmosphere, is currently under consideration for potential industrial development.

A forest walk, organised by Mayors Peter Boch and Sibylle Schüssler, is scheduled for next Saturday, with an expected attendance of 100 citizens. However, an anonymous WhatsApp chain letter has been circulating for several days, calling for a separate "meeting" at the same location, half an hour before the forest walk.

The protesters, concerned about the potential increase in car and heavy traffic that the industrial area may bring, argue that once a tree is cut down, it cannot be rebuilt. They believe that the Klapfenhardt forest protects them and future generations from the dirt and noise of the A8.

The originator of the WhatsApp message remains unknown, and the city has not commented on the call for a separate meeting at the forest walk location. The city, in need of new industrial areas due to limited available areas, has provided a search area of 68 hectares for testing the potential of the Klapfenhardt area as an industrial site.

It is important to note that a decision on which area will be developed for the industrial area has not been made yet. Forest clearance in Klapfenhardt and Ochsenwäldle will be examined openly by the end of the year, with the actual area to be developed in Klapfenhardt expected to be smaller.

The protesters, who want to be in the forest on Saturday and in the future, are calling for a "meeting" to voice their concerns. The city and the protesters will undoubtedly have a lively discussion about the future of Klapfenhardt and its forests in the days to come.
