The Lumen Cinema in Solingen, Germany, has announced a special initiative for students aged 12 and above, in collaboration with Universal Pictures International. From January 7 to April 9, 2025, the cinema will offer free screenings of the acclaimed film "Schindler's List" every Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Schindler's List," directed by Steven Spielberg, is a film that vividly depicts the horrors of the Holocaust. The film, considered one of the most important in history, won seven Oscars, including "Best Film" and "Best Director." It tells the story of Oskar Schindler, a man who saved over 1,100 Jews during World War II.

The screenings are aimed at sensitising young people to an important historical theme. The cinema operators, Meinolf Thies and Lutz Nennmann, have waived all income for these screenings, demonstrating their commitment to this cause.

The screenings will take place between the Christmas and Easter holidays in 2025, with a special date on January 27, 2025, the "International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust."

Registration for the free screenings is open until November 29, 2024, and can be done at [email protected]. It's important to note that admission is free for all school classes and teaching staff. However, no information is available about which school has registered by November 29 to attend the screenings.

During the screenings, the regular cinema will be closed, and the screenings will take place during the days when the regular cinema is usually closed. Unfortunately, catering services will not be available during these screenings.

This initiative by the Lumen Cinema is a powerful way to educate and inspire young people about an important chapter in history. It's a unique opportunity to witness a masterpiece of cinema and gain a deeper understanding of the Holocaust. Don't miss out on this chance – register now!
