In the early hours of August 30, a notable figure in the legal community of Washoe County found himself at the centre of an unexpected incident. Deputy District Attorney Kenneth Ching, a respected academic and practicing attorney, was arrested on suspicion of open and gross lewdness at Reno's Peppermill Resort Casino.

According to reports, the incident unfolded when Ching and a woman met at Chapel Tavern earlier that evening. The pair was subsequently seen acting close to the valet entrance by staff and visitors, with witnesses claiming to witness excessive indecent exposure by Ching and the woman near a set of valet doors.

The report also mentions that when Reno police arrived on the scene, Kenneth Ching's zipper was open. Security videos reviewed by authorities seemingly supported these accounts and showed people walking by as the events took place.

Both Ching and the woman were taken into custody, with initial alcohol tests revealing blood alcohol levels exceeding 0.1 for both. Ching, however, chose not to give a statement when questioned by police.

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office announced that Ching was no longer employed following the incident. The case involving Ching has been reassigned to the Carson City District Attorney's Office to prevent any conflict of interest.

It is important to note that the criminal process will decide Kenneth Ching's responsibility in the matter. Those convicted of open or gross lewdness in Nevada may face up to 364 days in jail, fines as high as $2,000, and mandatory sex offender registration.

Prior to his dismissal, Ching was supervised by the Chief Judge of Washoe County. He had also worked as a law professor and was honoured multiple times by Nevada Business Magazine as one of the state's "Legal Elite."

Kenneth Ching is set to face arraignment on September 9. The details of the case are still under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
