Proposed Initiative: Commission Sets Forth New Plan of Action
The city of Gießen is inviting its citizens to get creative and submit their ideas for new traffic light motifs along the park ring. This initiative, decided upon by the city council on July 3rd, 2025, aims to encourage active participation and interesting suggestions that will make the city's traffic lights more distinctive.
The idea page for submitting these creative ideas has been set up on the citizen participation platform, giessen-direct.de. Citizens can now share their ideas for new motifs, which must be distinguishable between "Stop" and "Go".
The magistrate will evaluate the submitted motifs, checking their feasibility and ensuring they are clearly understandable and recognisable to every person. The popularity of the submitted motifs will be considered based on the number of likes they receive.
All interested parties can like or comment on the submitted ideas on the online platform. The city encourages everyone to participate and share their thoughts.
Motifs resembling a person are usually allowed in the design. Submitted ideas range from city landmarks, cultural symbols, and environmentally themed icons, showcasing the creativity and local inspiration of Gießen's residents.
