In our town, residents have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming local elections through mail-in voting. The mail-in voting application process is now open, and the documents can be obtained both online and in person at the town hall.
The office hours for obtaining mail-in voting documents in person at the town hall are as follows:
- Monday: 08:30 - 12:30
- Tuesday: 08:30 - 16:30
- Wednesday: 08:30 - 16:30
- Thursday: 08:30 - 16:30
- Friday: 08:30 - 12:30 (until 3 pm on September 12)
Starting on August 5, 2025, mail-in voting documents can also be obtained in person at the town hall, Room 101, Kรถlner Str. 75. For those who prefer to apply online, the mail-in voting application link is provided below.
The municipal election will determine representatives for the city council, county council, mayor, and county commissioner. Simultaneously, members of the Integration Council will be elected as political representatives of people with migration backgrounds.
To participate in the integration council election, certain requirements must be met, such as having foreign roots or a foreign passport. (Refer to ยง 6 in the provided document for details.)
It is important to note that only eligible voters should apply for mail-in voting for the elections they are eligible to participate in. As of now, mail-in voting applications are currently available for the municipal election and the integration council election.
Voting in person at the town hall will also be available during regular office hours.
In the 2025 local elections (Kommunalwahlen) in North Rhine-Westphalia, citizens will elect representatives such as mayors and council members for their municipalities. Simultaneously, members of the Integration Council (Integrationsrat) will be elected as political representatives of people with migration backgrounds, with part of its membership directly elected by eligible voters with migration background and part appointed by the city council.
The mail-in voting and in-person voting options will be available starting on August 5, 2025. Make sure to exercise your right to vote and have your voice heard in the upcoming local elections!
