In the summer of 2020, the regional business climate across industries showed a downward trend. However, in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, the story was different. Despite the consequences of the Corona pandemic, the business climate in the region remained at a high level of 138 points.

The mortality rate in Germany, and specifically in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, was low, offering a glimmer of hope in these challenging times. This positive trend was reflected in the business climate index, which remained above the 100-point threshold, indicating a positive state in this crisis situation.

However, the business climate in manufacturing and the service sector was declining significantly. To counteract this, 20% of companies have switched to production processes that comply with Corona conditions - distance, and 25% have moved to online sales.

Moreover, 64% of companies are increasingly using mobile work and home office, and 58% are adopting more flexible working time models. These adaptations have been crucial in maintaining business operations during the pandemic.

The payment behavior of companies in Rhein-Kreis Neuss has slightly deteriorated in the first six months of the year, but the Sparkasse in Rhein-Kreis Neuss has stepped in to provide over 60 million euros to help businesses manage these economic challenges.

Investments for the next 12 months remain uncertain, with only about half (49%) of companies indicating their intent to invest. However, numerous large companies like Haribo, MM Neuss, Rheinmetall, Contargo, Essity, and Strabag continue to invest in the Neuss location, although the exact timing of these investments in the second half of 2020 is not specified.

It is uncertain whether this positive state is just a temporary snapshot. Nevertheless, the business climate index in Rhein-Kreis Neuss is in the bright green area, indicating a very good state. The resilience shown by businesses in Rhein-Kreis Neuss serves as a beacon of hope in these challenging times.
