Gießen, a city in Germany, is currently attracting attention for its unique and captivating charm. The city has been dubbed ELEFANTASTIC, and for good reason.

The heart of this ELEFANTASTIC city beats with the rhythm of live music and the spirit of innovation. The city centre plays host to the Elephant Parade, a vibrant spectacle that adds a touch of whimsy to the cityscape.

Step into the Tourist Information centre, and you'll find more than just a place for travel advice. Here, you can gather information about local events, sights, and leisure activities. The centre also offers tickets for city tours and other events. In addition, a variety of ELEFANTASTIC products, including bags, mugs, water bottles, and regional goods like honey and spirits, are available for purchase.

The ELEFANTASTIC theme extends to the city's history as well. Historical newspaper articles reveal that exotic animals, including elephants, were exhibited at the location of the Elephant Toilet at the end of the 19th century. Today, the Elephant Toilet serves as a centrepiece of the "Ab in die Mitte" action, located at the end of the pedestrian zone.

Gießen's Economic Development is organising an event called "Giessen is ELEFANTASTIC because..." from summer to fall, promoting innovation, creativity, quality of stay, and community. As part of this event, you can even meet Benjamin Blümlchen, the city's mascot, and participate in chess games at the Elephant Toilet.

For those with a love for literature, there's a literature day about elephants. And for those who appreciate the prehistoric, a life-sized model of a mammoth baby, named Majuba, is on display at the Herrmann-Hoffmann-Academy.

The Hessian competition "Ab in die Mitte - Bring Life to the City" has funded the project "Giessen is ELEFANTASTIC." All products are regionally produced or refined and priced between 2.50 € and 14.95 €.

The Tourist Information is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. However, for those eager to get their hands on the ELEFANTASTIC products, various items are now available, including baby bodys, toilet bags, magnets, mugs, T-shirts, and a Christmas tree puller (expected to be available mid-November).

In an unexpected twist, you might even spot elephants riding rickshaws in this ELEFANTASTIC city.

Whether you're a history buff, a literature lover, or simply a traveller seeking unique experiences, Gießen, the ELEFANTASTIC city, promises an unforgettable journey.
