Proposal for a directive remains undecided by the Commission.

FC Energie Cottbus is currently in the market for a new goalkeeper, following the severe injury of Elias Bethke. The club's first-choice stopper is expected to be out until winter with a muscle-tendon tear.

The injury occurred during the warm-up before the game against Hannover 96 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. This unfortunate turn of events has left Cottbus in a precarious position, as their backup goalkeeper, Max Boehnke, is relatively inexperienced.

In their quest for a suitable replacement, FC Energie Cottbus has identified several potential candidates. Among them are Jan-Christoph Bartels, Moritz Schulze, and Nils Körber. Bartels, the former starting goalkeeper for Waldhof Mannheim, could not agree on a new contract and is now available for free.

Schulze, who previously played for Greuther Fürth, is another option. However, Körber, with 11 second division and 54 third division appearances, is considered a strong contender. Despite being the third choice at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Körber, who is born in Berlin, could be an attractive prospect for Cottbus, especially if he decides to move closer to his home.

Yannic Stein, another Berlin native, has also been mentioned as a candidate. Stein, who has not agreed on a new contract with Waldhof Mannheim, could potentially be loaned out again this season to gain playing time elsewhere. However, Stein would not be a long-term solution for FC Energie Cottbus.

Interestingly, Elias Bethke has been linked with 1. FC Union Berlin. It is unclear whether this rumour has any bearing on Cottbus's goalkeeper search.

The goalkeeper being sought by FC Energie Cottbus has number-one ambitions. They are not looking for a short-term solution but a long-term one who can provide stability and leadership in the goal.

It is worth noting that Alexander Sebald became the match winner and cup hero against Hannover as a substitute. His performance could potentially open up opportunities for him to take on a more significant role in the team.

Bartels could still be signed by FC Energie Cottbus even after the transfer deadline. Cottbus is eager to resolve the goalkeeper issue soon to ensure they have a strong squad for the upcoming season.

In conclusion, FC Energie Cottbus finds itself in a challenging situation due to Elias Bethke's injury. However, they are actively seeking a new goalkeeper who can fill the void left by Bethke and become a permanent fixture in the team. The club is hopeful that they will find the right candidate soon to secure their goalkeeping position for the long term.
