Property valued at 33 crore rupees seized in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, as per a court ruling.
In a significant move against crime and criminals, the Aligarh Police in Uttar Pradesh have confiscated land worth approximately ₹33 crore from a land mafia. This action was taken under the zero-tolerance policy against crime and criminals, as instructed by Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The confiscated land, which measures 15,200 square metres, was part of a campaign being run in the Tappal police station area. A vehicle worth ₹16 lakh was also confiscated.
The case is related to the land confiscation that took place in the Aligarh district. The accused, Mohammad Sharib Tasneem and Saad Rahman, were booked by the Police on charges of land misuse. A case was registered against the duo under sections 420, 447, 467, 468, 471, 504 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as under provisions of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Information Technology Act.
The action follows an order from a local court and allegations that the accused were causing economic and material loss to the common people by buying and selling land illegally. The accused are accused of illegally taking money from small investors for a plot of land without the map being approved by the Yamuna Development Authority.
Mohammad Sharib Tasneem was charged with land misuse on October 21, 2020. The case was registered at the Tappal police station in 2022. The accused allegedly did not give possession of the land to the investors after taking their money.
This confiscation is a part of a larger campaign to combat crime and ensure justice for the common people. The Aligarh Police continue to work tirelessly to uphold the law and maintain peace and order in the region.
