Osnabrück's Mobile Library Expands Services in Celebration of 50th Anniversary

The city of Osnabrück is celebrating a significant milestone as its mobile library, affectionately known as the book bus, marks its 50th anniversary. In line with this celebration, the mobile library is expanding its services, adding three additional stops to its schedule.

The book bus, which has been serving as a mobile library since 1975, has been a cherished part of the city's educational landscape. It regularly visits schools, kindergartens, and after-school care facilities, providing access to a wide range of reading materials for the city's youth.

The new stops, located at Yorkring 4 in Atter's, Atterstraße/Schule in Eversburg, and Ölweg 23 in Schinkel-Ost, will be added to the book bus's route starting from August 18. Unfortunately, the individuals or organisations responsible for initiating this expansion remain unidentified.

On board the book bus, you'll find a wealth of reading materials including audiobooks, magazines, comics, DVDs, and video games. The book bus serves over 30 stops across the entire city, making reading and learning accessible to all.

In addition to the expansion, the book bus has also undergone modernization twice, ensuring it remains a state-of-the-art mobile library. As it embarks on its second half-century of service, the book bus continues to play a vital role in promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading among the city's children.
