Prices of Dining in Popular European Vacation Destinations
In the upcoming summer vacation season, travellers planning a trip across Europe should take note of the shifting dining costs in various destinations. According to a recent analysis by Ferrygogo, Iceland and Switzerland remain the most expensive countries for dining out, followed closely by Denmark.
Prices have overall increased, particularly in Western European countries. For instance, a dinner for two in Basel, Switzerland, can set you back over 130 euros, while in cities like London and Stockholm, prices have decreased slightly but still remain high compared to other European destinations.
However, there are pockets of affordability across the continent. Southern regions like Spain, Portugal, Croatia, and Greece offer more budget-friendly options. In Seville, Spain, a dinner for two costs approximately 40 euros, and in Valencia and Malaga, the cost rises to around 50 euros. Portugal's Lisbon and Porto also offer moderately priced dining, with a dinner for two costing around the same as in Seville.
If you're looking to save even more, consider venturing to Albania, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria. These countries offer up to 50% savings compared to Germany, followed by Montenegro and Portugal with significant price advantages among Southern European destinations. In Skopje, North Macedonia, a three-course meal costs an average of 25 euros, making it the cheapest option in Europe.
It's worth noting that not all countries have seen a price increase. Denmark has seen a slight decrease in costs compared to last year, offering a more affordable dining experience compared to Iceland, Switzerland, and Denmark.
As you plan your European vacation, remember to factor in dining expenses. Whether you choose to splurge in Switzerland or save in North Macedonia, the continent offers a wide range of dining options to suit every budget.
