In the city of Detmold, a boil water advisory has been put in place for certain areas due to high levels of coliform bacteria discovered in the drinking water network. The affected regions include Barkhausen, Brokhausen, Diestelbruch, Hakedahl, Mosebeck, Niederschönhagen, Oberschönhagen, Remmighausen, Schönemark, Spork-Eichholz, and Vahlhausen.

The City Utilities of Detmold took immediate action on Thursday to address the issue. The pipes are currently being chlorinated and flushed for disinfection. It is crucial to avoid contact with open wounds in the affected areas.

Despite the advisory, the water is still suitable for personal hygiene, handwashing, showering, and bathing. However, only packaged or boiled water should be used for drinking, brushing teeth, and food preparation in the affected areas.

The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until Tuesday, August 26, with a new sample to be taken on Friday, August 22. The City Utilities of Detmold will provide updates on the developments to the citizens.

This situation can lead to health issues, especially in immunocompromised individuals. For more information on water usage, residents can visit the City Utilities of Detmold's website.

The head of Stadtwerke Detmold, which triggered the Boil Water Advisory, is Managing Director Jörg Karlikowski. The City Utilities of Detmold will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of the city's water supply.

Residents are advised to stay informed and follow the guidelines provided to maintain their health during this time. The City Utilities of Detmold encourages everyone to check their website for the latest updates and advisories.
