Preparation Essentials Before Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

Welcome to Holy Cross, a vibrant community that recently welcomed a new batch of prospective students with open arms. The campus was buzzing with energy, as tours were conducted, and food trucks dished out delicious bites to fuel the excitement.

One of these prospective students, Caitlin Wiffler '27, was particularly excited. She is part of the Natural World Cluster at Holy Cross, ready to embark on a journey of academic discovery.

In other exciting news, WCHC has announced a new addition to its roster - a student-run show called "Kimball Radio". Starting this week, this new show will grace the airwaves, continuing into the spring semester.

But Holy Cross is not just about academics and new shows. It's also about the unique experiences that come with being part of a diverse community. For instance, during Parents Weekend, a prospective student waited an hour at the bookstore while their mom picked out a sweatshirt, a common occurrence for many students.

And let's not forget about the quirks that make Holy Cross, well, Holy Cross. Irish people, known for their love of music, often wear uncomfortable wool sweaters with a pungent smell and say things that may seem gibberish to outsiders. Some popular Irish musicians who call Holy Cross home include Zach Bryan and The Strokes, whose incomprehensible lyrics may be a nod to their Cork origins.

The Irish influence extends to the food as well. Boiled, beige, and bland are adjectives often used to describe the traditional Irish fare. But don't let that deter you - there's a certain charm to it.

And when March 17th rolls around, the campus comes alive for St. Patrick's Day. The St. Patrick's Day Parade in Boston, a popular event, features a parade, the old book smell, Starbucks workers on strike, potatoes, actors who don't know about the SAG-AFTRA strike, and a float of Robert De Niro.

But Holy Cross is not just about the past. It's also about the future. So, whether you're a prospective student, a current student, or a parent, there's always something new to look forward to at Holy Cross. And remember, a full-length mirror should be on your shopping list for move-in day!
