Champions League Return for Pogba as Monaco Kick Off Campaign

Football fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Paul Pogba to competitive action, as the midfielder prepares to make his debut for Monaco in the upcoming Champions League campaign.

Pogba, who returned to football after a two-year absence by signing for Monaco in the summer, will be featuring in a star-studded squad that earned Champions League qualification by finishing third in Ligue 1 last season.

The French international's first taste of action in the Champions League could potentially come in the opening match against Club Brugge on September 18, with the return leg scheduled for October 4. Monaco's Champions League campaign begins with an away game against Club Brugge, followed by a home game against Manchester City on October 1.

Next up for Monaco is a home game against Tottenham on October 22, a team Pogba has faced across nine different matches, with all appearances coming while at Manchester United. Pogba has been on the winning side five times against Tottenham.

Following the clash against Tottenham, Monaco will face Bodo/Glimt on November 4, with the return leg scheduled for November 23. The Champions League match against Pafos FC is scheduled for November 26, and Monaco's next opponents in the Champions League will be Galatasaray on December 9.

The Champions League match against Real Madrid is scheduled for January 20, and the last Champions League match for Monaco is against Juventus on January 28. It will be an interesting encounter for Pogba, as he was at Juventus at the time of the failed drugs test and his contract was later terminated, making him a free agent.

Pogba was given a four-year ban for a failed drugs test in October 2023, but this was reduced to 18 months after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The ban ended in April 2025, and Pogba was selected in the Monaco squad for the 2025/26 Champions League.

In the group stage of the Champions League 2025/26, Pogba could potentially face clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Napoli, Inter, Atalanta, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Bayern München, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Dortmund, Marseille, Monaco, PSV, Ajax, Sporting CP, Union Saint-Gilloise, Galatasaray, Slavia Praha, Newcastle United, Villarreal, and several others.

Pogba has played Manchester City nine times throughout his career, with wins coming on four of those occasions. Fans are excited to see how Pogba will perform in the Champions League for Monaco and whether he can help the team secure some impressive results against some of the best clubs in Europe.
