Prada license strengthened by Puig as it receives a twenty million euro investment.

In 2010, Spanish fragrance and skincare company Puig made significant strides in the industry. The company, which manages premium brands such as Prada, Comme des Garçons, and Valentino, achieved revenues of 1.202 billion euros, marking a 22% growth compared to the previous year.

However, the company experienced a 5% decrease in sales compared to the previous year. Despite this setback, Puig managed to register a net profit of 130 million euros in 2010.

Puig's success can be attributed to its strategic partnerships. In 2003, the company formed a joint venture with Prada for the management of Fragrance and Skincare. This joint venture lasted for fifteen years, until it was transformed into a license last April. With the end of the joint venture, Puig became the sole shareholder of Fragrance and Skincare.

To further strengthen its position, Puig injected twenty million euros into Fragrance and Skincare, increasing its share capital to 24 million euros. The source of this capital increase is not publicly specified in available sources.

The change in strategy implemented by Puig focuses on luxury. This focus is evident in its acquisitions. Last May, Puig bolstered its brand portfolio by acquiring a 45% stake in Jean Paul Gaultier from Hermès. Along with Gaultier, Puig also owns the fashion firms Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci, Carolina Herrera, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Puig's strategic moves have not gone unnoticed. The family-owned company holds a 7% share of the global selective perfumery market, positioning itself among the international giants of perfumery. As Puig continues to grow and evolve, it is making a name for itself as a force to be reckoned with in the fragrance industry.
