PP Ravensburg: News from Sigmaringen District

A series of incidents across southern Germany left police investigating multiple cases of damage and vandalism over the past week. From arson to drunk driving, authorities are piecing together events that caused thousands of euros in losses.

Early on Friday morning, a fire destroyed a wooden hut near a wind turbine in Bad Saulgau. Meanwhile, other reports included smashed windows, slashed tyres, and a hit-and-run collision on rural roads.

The first incident occurred overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in Sigmaringen. A VW parked on Bilharzstraße had its front tyres punctured, resulting in several hundred euros of damage. No witnesses have come forward.

Later that same day, a 40-year-old driver’s Ford Transit was sideswiped on the county road between Scheer and Blochingen. The collision, which happened on Thursday morning, caused around 3,500 euros in damage. The responsible driver fled the scene and remains unidentified. On Thursday evening, two men—aged 28 and 52—were pulled over in Mengen for drunk driving. Both had blood alcohol levels exceeding one promille. Police took them into custody for further questioning. Around 11 pm that night, a stone shattered a window on 'Im Winkel' street in Meßkirch. The culprit has not been found. Just before 8 pm on Thursday, a harvester caught fire near Menningen due to a technical fault. The blaze caused several thousand euros in damage, though no injuries were reported. The most serious incident took place at 5 am on Friday in Bad Saulgau. A wooden hut near the wind turbine on Mooshauptenstraße was set alight, resulting in around 6,000 euros of damage. Police confirmed no arrests have been made as of Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Authorities are now reviewing evidence from each case, including the arson in Bad Saulgau and the hit-and-run near Scheer. The total financial impact runs into thousands of euros, with investigations ongoing. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
