Police Vocational School: Training Services Welcomes New Recruits to Hagen (Police Academy)

The Police Upper Secondary School (FOS) in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, has welcomed its latest cohort of students for the 2022-2023 academic year. A total of 58 students, aged between 14 and 30, have begun their studies at the school, which is now in its fourth year.

The FOS program provides a new pathway into the police force for young people with an intermediate school leaving certificate. Some students are continuing their education after completing the 10th grade, while others are returning after years in the workforce.

The Hagen Police are responsible for the training of the FOS program students. They collaborate with vocational schools in Bochum, Halver, Märkischer Kreis, Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, Olpe, Siegen, and the Police Upper Secondary School in Bochum to ensure that students receive practical content alongside their academic studies.

This cross-authority cooperation aims to prepare students for a career in the North Rhine-Westphalia police force. In August 2022, the police authority responsible for the training of FOS students, the police department of North Rhine-Westphalia (Polizei NRW), specifically Polizei Dortmund, began the FOS Police program.

A total of 3645 people applied for the FOS class of 2025, with 551 young people being successful in their applications and starting their studies at one of the 19 vocational schools.

The Hagen Police have expressed well-wishes for the success of the FOS students. They can be found on various social media platforms, including Twitter (@polizei_nrw_ha), Instagram (@polizei.nrw.ha), Facebook (Polizei.NRW.HA), and WhatsApp (https://url.nrw/WhatsAppPolizeiNRWHagen). For official updates and press inquiries, the Hagen Police Press Office can be contacted at [email protected].

Upon graduation, students will have full university entrance qualifications and a guaranteed place at the University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration NRW. This makes the FOS program an attractive option for those considering a career in the police force.
