Police Vocational School in Hagen, Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, initiates fresh trainees: New guidance for law enforcement training commences in Hagen
The University of Applied Sciences South Westphalia in Hagen welcomed a new group of students on August 25, 2022, as part of the Fourth Year of the FOS program. A total of 58 students, including 39 males and 19 females, aged between 14 and 30, began their studies in this unique pathway into the police force.
The FOS program, which offers an opportunity for those with intermediate education, is a collaborative effort between the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis Police and seven other authorities: Bochum, Dortmund, Hagen, Herne, Recklinghausen, Unna, and Witten. This cross-authority cooperation ensures students receive practical content in the daily operations of the cooperating authorities.
In the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, eight students from the FOS program are currently under the jurisdiction of the local police force. The Hagen Police are overseeing the training of these students, collaborating with vocational schools in Bochum and Halver, as well as police authorities in Bochum, Märkischer Kreis, Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, Olpe, and Siegen.
The students are being set on track for a career in the NRW police force. Upon graduation, they will have full university entrance qualifications and a guarantee of acceptance into the University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration NRW. This means that upon successful completion of their studies, these students will be well-equipped to join the police force in the region.
As of June 2025, 3645 people have applied for the FOS class of 2025. Out of these, 551 young people have secured a place in the program, starting at two of the 19 vocational schools. The source of this information is the Kreispolizeibehörde Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, transmitted via news aktuell.
