Police Reports: Man Injured in Casino Carpark Gun Attack

Authorities in New York State are hunting for the person who shot a man outside of a Long Island gaming establishment on a Friday evening.

The 38-year-old victim from Wyandanch, NY was badly injured, but managed to make his way to Islandia, NY's Jake's 58 Casino and Hotel. There, he reported that he'd been shot. Casino personnel contacted the police.

An ambulance came and moved the wounded man to a nearby hospital where physicians treated him.

This occurred in the casino's parking lot. It appears the victim had been shot twice, as per Newsday.

The victim was a deliberate target, and it wasn't a random event, News 12 Long Island reports. No one else was wounded.

The culprit didn't enter the casino building and left the parking lot after firing the shots.

As of early Sunday, the police still hadn't made an arrest in connection with the case. Nothing is known about the victim's current health status.

The incident caused the casino to examine their security measures.

As reported by News 12, Phil Boyle, the CEO of Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting, said, “We're going to revamp and refresh everything we have, do new training for our workers, and work more closely with the Suffolk County Police Department who did a fantastic job.”
