Police pursuit ends in building collision, vehicle shattering a window.
In Berlin-Neukรถlln on Monday evening, a 23-year-old man caused a commotion when he sped through the streets under the influence of drugs. The incident began near Herrnhuter Weg, where the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a storefront.
The car, uninsured and driven by an unlicensed individual, bounced back onto the road after the collision. Police, who had noticed smoke rising from the vehicle on the highway, immediately began pursuit.
The driver, in a reckless manner, ran red lights and drove against traffic, sending shockwaves through the streets. As he sped along Buschkrugallee, he drove over a median and onto the sidewalk, narrowly missing pedestrians.
Three passersby were left traumatised, requiring medical attention for shock. The driver, however, continued his reckless journey, fleeing the scene.
Eventually, the driver crashed into the window of a business, causing further damage. He was arrested nearby by the police shortly after the crash. The driver was then taken to a hospital with injuries.
Upon searching the vehicle, drugs were found. The exact nature and quantity of the substances are currently under investigation.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drivers under the influence of drugs. Authorities urge all road users to be vigilant and cautious, especially at night and in busy urban areas.
